The New Dog

It’s been a while since I’ve written anything for my blog, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t been thinking about my life and situation here at home with the other critters. We have a new dog named Dixie whom I tolerate fairly well, except when he tries to “groom” me. I am perfectly well groomed, thank you very much, having my fur entirely in order and nicely licked to my standards. The dog is a bit nutty though. He’s a little terrier mix that my mom adopted from the local shelter. He was a bit nervous when he first came home, and would bark at everything and everybody, especially the son who wears a beard. Dixie would bark and yap every time Stephen came out of his room and into the kitchen. But that was then, and this is now. Dixie is much calmer, and only takes to running fits around the kitchen every other day or so. We both enjoy sunning ourselves out on the deck, especially in this lovely summer weather, and my only complaint is that every time someone walks or cycles past the house, the dog goes completely berzerk, and then mom comes out to hush him, but by then my lovely nap has been disturbed, as my lovely dreams of catnip toys fade from my consciousness.

Max and Cuddles are still hissy with me, and I just don’t understand why we can’t all get along. Max usually leads the charge when he finds me wandering around the kitchen, and runs over to try and give me a paw swipe. I can stand up for myself just fine though, and don’t take too much gruff from him, especially since he’s almost eight years younger than I am. I just don’t know about the younger generation. No respect for their elders.

I have my own special food now to help my kidneys, and I must say that it’s quite yummy. The other kitties eat it too, but they don’t need it for their health, like I do.

So that’s about all for my little update. I mostly snooze these days, as I’m getting along in years. But I still enjoy a nice walk through the grass, grazing along the way. Thanks for stopping by to visit my blog. More later.
